Inspired By: Modern Tropical Weddings

Since I live in South Florida, specifically Palm Beach, I see a lot of events and weddings featuring the traditional "tropical" theme - bright colors, lots of palm leaves, and so on.

This is so beautiful and I really love it, but for this week's blog, I wanted to look at tropical in another light.  I stayed away from the bright colors - keeping things modern but classic, upscale, while keeping hints of a tropical vibe.

I chose black, white, and gold with hints of greenery and palms as the color scheme.  Black, white, and gold is not an unusual color combo, but it felt unique for a Palm Beach/South Florida/tropical event.  I love that it still feels tropical without all the color.

3 Ways to Add Glitter to Your Event

3 Ways to Add Glitter to Your Event

As you can probably tell, it's no secret that I love glitter and always seem to be drawn to it. Whether in my clothing, decor, or as inspiration for events, I find that a little bit of sparkle goes a long way - and adds a lot of fun!

Glitter can be done tastefully, especially when paired with metallics. You definitely don't need to feature a glitter bomb at your next event (unless you want to!), but small touches can add a drop of luxury and something extra.

A touch of glitter in my house...

Gold and metallic accents on my end table

These are some of my favorite ways to add a touch of glitter to your next event:

  • Invitations/Paper Products: If you're throwing a luxe occasion and want to incorporate glitter, start your guests' impression with this idea. By adding small touches of sparkle to your invitations, menus, programs, and so on, you can feature this luxurious touch without going overboard.

Example: Here's a gorgeous sample from Victoria at VG Invites. This invite features gold metallic accents in a classic way.Check out her shop here!

  • Glassware: With sites like Etsy, it's easy to find glassware that's dipped in metallics or glitters.  Again, these add a lot of fun to your tablescape, and can also make great centerpiece additions.

  • Lettering: It's common these days to have letters that spell something at an event or wedding - whether it's the couple's new last name, or something more common like "LOVE" or "PEACE," lettering stands out. It's easy to create or purchase lettering in gold glitter, with various degrees of sparkle and brightness.
